Eric Nance received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Portland (Oregon) State University, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). Eric currently serves adults, teens and families using a variety of modalities including client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, insight-oriented, mindfulness and basic problem-solving. Eric’s approach focuses strongly on client empowerment and the need for clients to own their progress within their therapy experience. He has a special interest in adults with severe and persistent mental illness, in addition to adults who have sustained complex trauma. Eric is trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and often utilizes this intervention with those who present with complex trauma. In addition to being an outpatient psychotherapist, Eric co-facilitates an adult processing group that focuses on trauma and anxiety issues. He provides clinical supervision to those on licensure track and professional supervision to staff at the “Journey” Group Home in Bemidji. Eric is passionate regarding the well-being of colleagues in the mental health system and enjoys providing education regarding the realities of appropriate self-care and self-compassion.
