Adolescent Boys ~ Age Group: 16-21
Certifications: QRTP (Qualified Residential Treatment Program)
Next Step is a community-based program that acts as a bridge between the Teens in Transition program and independent living. Adolescent boys involved in Next Step work on obtaining and maintaining employment, budgeting and financial management, and securing housing. Youth develop independent living skills, and may also be completing school or post-secondary educational programming.
Next Step fills a gap in services for teens who will not be returning home at the end of placement or for other reasons are needing to live independently. In an apartment-like home setting, this program provides 24-hour awake staff to support and develop the skills needed to live independently. Preferred completion of the Teens in Transition (TNT) program, but not required.
This gender-specific programming for boys in the Grand Rapids area is in partnership with Department of Corrections. Youth in this program are referred by a county worker, probation officer, or court order
