Dennis & Makaila
Dennis (15) is a polite and soft-spoken young man. Many people describe Dennis as cooperative, helpful and kind. Dennis makes it point to go out of his way to do a random act of kindness for a friend or stranger every day! He has goals of learning how to swim, and would love to visit a cabin as he has never been on a boat before. When he’s older, Dennis has aspirations of becoming a storm chaser. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and learning random facts.
Makaila (12) is outgoing with a big personality! Makaila enjoys making friends and having conversations with peers and adults. She has a big heart, and is very artistic and creative. Makaila likes to stay active, and loves to spend hours at the local park. In her free time, you will find Makaila working on an arts and craft project, completing Word Search puzzles, or learning a new board game.
A family for Dennis and Makaila should be able to provide a structured environment, with time for plenty of supervision, routine and emotional support. Prospective families should have a good understanding of the impact of trauma and be able to demonstrate sensitivity for youth with complex trauma histories. Dennis and Makaila have expressed that they are hopeful to find a family that will love them, take them out to do fun things, and make them feel safe. Dennis would love to live with a family who has a cabin (although not required!). It would be best if Dennis and Makaila were the only children living in the home. Following permanency, Dennis and Makaila have kin and other extended family members they will need to maintain contact with.
