secure correctional program

The Secure Correctional Program provides a dispositional alternative to District Court for secure detention and corrections programming. This program is available to young men and women ages 12 - 18 utilizing "Thinking for a Change" curriculum, with components of group living and behavior management.


 

The goals of this program are:

  • To effect change in thinking so that behavior is positively impacted
  • Provides a less restrictive dispositional alternative on an outpatient basis or as a component of residential/secure programming
  • Encompasses 22 lessons
  • Youth in secure program will complete full program in 6-7 weeks
  • Youth attending program as an out-patient community resource will complete full program in 12 weeks (attending 2 days per week)
  • Cognitive behavior programs have evolved over the last 30 years and have proven to be effective

This program is licensed by the State of Minnesota's Department of Corrections. 35-Day Evaluations are also available on the secure unit. The evaluation team provides a number of assessments including: Behavioral, Psychological, Psychiatric, Cultural, Recreational, Academic, Family, Family History, Health Screening, Rule 25, and Psycho-Sexual. Neurological and FASD evaluations may be included, however, please know that this will take additional time outside of the 35 days.
