Who are Foster Children
They may be an infant, child, or adolescent in need of a safe home to live. They are kids who might have a difficult time explaining what they have experienced in their young lives, and what it's like to be in foster care now. They might tell a person with their behaviors, they might not trust adults much at all. They might have a lot of worries about whether you will like them, accept them, listen to them, help their families and help them. They may be alone or they may have their siblings with them. They might need specialized medical care, therapeutic care and/or educational care. They come from diverse backgrounds and expect that you will get to know them as individuals and not make assumptions about them. They want you to know that inside they are good kids and with ample support, if you don't give up on them, you will get to know just how unique and wonderful they truly are.

Foster Care Homes
North Homes Children and Family Services is licensed by the Minnesota and North Dakota Departments of Human Services as a resource for Foster Care. Children and their families benefit from foster homes that are willing to be supportive, mentoring and caring. By providing children and adolescents in need with a nurturing family home, we are able to provide children the least restrictive, most appropriate setting to address their needs.

North Homes has approximately 80 licensed homes throughout the state of Minnesota and has expanded into North Dakota. We have homes in rural areas, small towns and large cities. Case Managers are available 24 hours a day to foster parents for support and advise them when there is a need. North Homes utilizes a strength based and collaborative process for goal planning and care in order to achieve the best outcomes and continued success.

Placements are determined by the needs of an individual child. North Homes Foster Parents are licensed, trained and supervised to assist them in effective promotion of a child's placement plan.

By providing a complete continuum of care, North Homes Children and Family Services is able to offer a broad spectrum of community based options. These options enable referral sources to select support that best meets an individual child and their family's needs. At the same time, our continuum allows us to 'meet kid's where they're at'.
