Marjorie Baumgartner-Hill, MA, LMFT, LPCC
Marjorie has over 25 years of experience in working with children, adolescents and adults. She admires the courage of those who seek therapy. "It is a privilege to be a part of the process of facilitating hope and healing to those who are struggling with the challenges of life." Marjorie welcomes children, teens, adults and couples into the counseling process. She enjoys working with people in their efforts to make better life choices, to better manage stress in their lives and to develop more effective and healthy communication and interpersonal relationship skills. She believes that when we work from our strengths we make the most progress in meeting our goals. Marjorie has presented workshops addressing issues related to stress management, communications, and family living.
Sarah Baker, MSW, LICSW
Sarah has many years of experience in individual, family and group therapy. Sarah enjoys working with high school students and helping them adjust to different transitions in life. She travels to clients homes for In-home family psychotherapy. Sarah's office is at the Bemidji High School and summer months she is in the Bemidji North Homes Children and Family Services office. Sarah is holistic and expertly connects clients to resources in their communities. Insurances accepted are MA, Prime West, South Country Alliance, UCARE, Blue Plus, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Triwest, Medica, Medicare and Preferred One.
Stephanie Baumgardner, MSW, LICSW, RPT
Stephanie is a certified Play Therapist. Stephanie is a member of THRIVE and is working with the community to make 0-5 Diagnostic Assessments available in the area. Stephanie enjoys to work with both teens and younger children. Stephanie provides play therapy and filial therapy which enhances the parent/child relationship, most often used with children under the age of 12.
Dr. David Bransford, M.D., Psychiatrist
Dr. Bransford has his own private practice and has collaborated with North Homes Children and Family services for many years. He graciously provides psychiatric supervision and consultation.
Lisa Corradi, MSW, LGSW
A graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth, Lisa has 25 years in the Human Service field and previously worked in behavioral mental health, mental health community outreach, foster care case management, victim's advocacy, and crisis intervention. Lisa has worked extensively with Native American Culture and families. She is passionate about working with children and adults who and there are strengths in every child. She learns from each person she comes in contact with and builds trusting relationships with the individuals and families she joins in therapy. Lisa loves meeting new people, hearing their stories, and is very excited to be able to pursue have been victims of trauma. She has training and skills in Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), which she is eager to put into use with youth in DBT groups two times a week in the Grand Rapids area. Lisa reflects that working with children is hopeful her passion as a therapist.
Kathy Faver, MSW, LICSW
Kathy provides complete diagnostic assessments and provides treatment and therapy plans. She provides individual, couples and family therapy to the adolescent and adult population. Specialty areas include serious and persistent mental illness, sexual and physical abuse victims, sex offender treatment, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety disorders. Kathy collaborates and consults with other mental health providers, corrections and human services personnel, hospitals and foster care agencies to provide a continuum of care and follow-up/referral/case management services. Kathy also serves on the Collaborative for the Management of Sexual Offenders in the 7 county area.
Richard William Faver (Bill), MA, LP
Bill provides individual and family psychotherapy, Diagnostic Assessments, psychological testing and evaluations and facilitates psychotherapy groups at the Bemidji NWJTC. Bill specializes in testing and sex offender treatment. He also assisted in the Rule 29 certification and is a part of the multidisciplinary team.
Julie Flint, MSW, LICSW
Julie is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth's Master of Social Work program, where she received a solid foundation for evidence-based best practices, which now guide her work toward ensuring life-long success for children and families. Julie's special areas of interest are working with foster/adoptive youth with diagnoses such as Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety and Depression, with an emphasis on providing culturally sensitive therapeutic assistance as a cross-cultural practitioner. To this end Julie is committed to intervention strategies that validate and build upon the various cultures and strengths of the children and families she serves. Julie is currently developing her knowledge and skills in the area of Trauma-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TB-CBT) with a focus on historical and generational trauma. The aim of TB-CBT is to help children, adolescents and their families resolve unhelpful emotions, behaviors and thoughts, enabling them to gain the understanding and power needed to change their life circumstances by maximizing participation, self-determination and problem-solving/solution-finding skills. Julie enjoys accompanying children and families as they evolve into the people they were meant to be; she embraces the challenge of keeping up with them.
Ed Franckowiak, MSW, LICSW
Ed Franckowiak has 15 years of experience working with children, families, adolescents and adults. He is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker; obtaining his Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1999. Ed primarily is responsible for all operations at the North Homes residential treatment cottage in Grand Rapids, though does maintain a client caseload, completes diagnostic assessments and facilitates group therapy. He has a special interest in working with youth and young adults who struggle with mood disorders, anxiety, adjustment disorders, environmental stressors and familial discord. Ed considers it an honor to be able to work closely with clients in all capacities; assisting them with striving toward positive functioning and enhancing interactions within their environments. He is also an adjunct professor for the College of St. Scholastica, focusing on work with individuals and families, policy and ethical considerations.
Colin Heglund, MA LP
Colin completes Diagnostic Assessments, Individual and Family Therapy, DBT groups, and psychotherapy groups at the Bemidji high School. Colin completes the 35 day evaluations for the Evergreen Program, a collaborative community effort. Colin is certified to provide Rorschach testing and is also trained to complete additional Psychological testing.
Dr. William Larsen Ph.D.Psychologist
Dr. Larsen has worked with North Homes since 2006. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical/Development Psychology in 1985. His past work experience was as the Director of Psychological Services/Clinical Psychologist at Holston Mental Health Center in Kingsport Tennessee, Clinical Director at Northland Mental Health Center in Grand Rapids Minnesota and 19 years in private practice in the Grand Rapids Minnesota area. He provides a range of services which includes family and individual psychological evaluations, psychotherapy with adolescents and young adults and in-depth diagnostic assessments working in conjunction with an in-patient hospital psychiatric unit, various treatment facilities, law enforcement agencies and physicians in coordinating services to disturbed adolescents. Dr. Larsen provides a key element in our 35-day Evaluation Program at North Homes.
Melissa Ostrofsky, MSW, LICSW
Melissa is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth's Master of Social Work Program, where she developed a strong foundation of knowledge surrounding Native American issues and evidence-based practices which she applies in her work in foster care treatment planning and therapy. Melissa is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a strong advocate for the youth and families she works with. Melissa sees clients out of the Duluth Office.
